Author Profile

Dr. Md Naiyer Zaidy is Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Geography, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh. He obtained his M.A. and Ph.D. in Geography from Aligarh Muslim University. Moreover, he also qualified National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by UGC. Dr. Zaidy has a great commitment in research and teaching. His fields of specialization are Rural/Regional Studies, Food & Nutrition Security and Health Geography. He has published fifteen research papers on different themes of human geography. Moreover, he has attended twenty international and national conferences / seminars and presented papers on the different aspects of geography. Dr. Zaidy has participated in several workshops and training programmes related with research methodology, statistical techniques, GIS and Remote Sensing. He holds the membership of three academic societies (GAG, Goa; KGA, Maharashtra and AG, Bihar & Jharkhand).

About The Book

The present book is a modest attempt to investigate the prevailing state of food insecurity and its impact on human health in dry Bundelkhand region of Uttar Pradesh. The study is based on empirical data collected through field survey. The book is divided into seven chapters. Each chapter deals the various aspects of food insecurity prevalent in the region. The first two chapters give an account of theoretical framework and geographical information of the study area. The third and fourth chapter respectively deals the socioeconomic status and dietary habits of the sampled households. The fifth chapter describes status of food insecurity with the help of large number of indicators. Chapter six represents the determinants of food insecurity and chapter seventh examines the impact of food insecurity on the health of the members of the households. It is hoped that the present book will be highly useful for students, teachers and researchers involved in various disciplines especially geography, economics, sociology, medical science and anthropology. The policy makers, planners, academicians, medical doctors and economist will also get valuable information from this book.
