Dr. Menka, is a PostDoctoral Fellow (ICSSR) in the Department of Geography, Aligarh Muslim University, Aligarh, India. She obtained her doctorate degree in 2013 from the same university. She qualified NET and JRF (UGC) in Geography. Dr. Menka has several research papers to her credit published in National and International reputed Journals. She has presented many research papers especially in the fields of Population Geography, Social Geography and Rural Development in the various national and international conferences. She has a great commitment with research.

About The Book

The book deals with the concept, causes and problems of begging. It studies the types of beggars, various methods of begging and the socioeconomic characteristics of beggars like, agesex composition, religion and caste structures, marital and migration status, educational level, occupational and health status, etc. the socioeconomic and biological causes of begging have been analysed at very microlevel. Moreover, the extent of accessibility of beggars in housing, water and other amenities has also been measured in the book. It is hoped that the present book completed in a highly structured and readable style, will be highly useful for the students, teachers and researchers involved in various disciplines of social sciences especially Geography, Demography, Sociology, Economics, History and Political Science.
