Ish Kumar Gangania, has two dozen books in his favour, both in Hindi and English in different genres. It includes seven poetry collections, one collection of ghazals named ‘GardoGubar’, ‘Intuition’ collection of stories, a novel ‘Surgical Strike’ and two books based on the struggle for the identity of the indigenous people of India. A book on ‘Anna Andolan: Bhartiya Loktantra Ko Chunauti’, the remaining eight books are a collection of literary criticism and essays on contemporary issues. Surgical Strike (Novel), Synthetic Eggs (Stories) and Bard’s Beloved (Poetry) are English publications. KuKu Fm has already aired the novel Surgical Strike and ‘Intuition’ collection of stories in Hindi. His ninth poetry collection, ‘Ishtihar’ and his autobiography ‘Main Aur Mera Girebaan’, are in queue for publication. The current publication of ‘Bard’s Beloved’ poetry is the latest gleam to relish. He has been subeditor of renowned quarterly Hindi Journals ‘Apeksha’ and ‘Adhikar Darpan’ for over eight years and then edited ‘Aajivak Vision’, a bilingual monthly magazine. He is now the editor of the Hindi quarterly journal ‘Samay Sangyan’.

About The Book

To this day, I know Gangania to be an energetic writer who presents marvellous and logical views on social, political, religious and economic issues. He has a transparent vision to understand, test and express things. He interprets the subject in his articles based on facts without prejudice. But he also writes stories; it came to me when he discussed the role of his collection. I have always believed that there is an artist inside everybody. As soon as the conditions are appropriate, it rises above the surface. But those who are artisans of the art of pen, especially prose, succeed in many areas of prose after study, thinking and contemplation.  The language I found in Gangania Ji’s articles had to be oriented one day towards fiction. His entry into Hindi literature is welcome. He has been an active spokesperson for Ambedkarite writing. Gangania Ji, who gave birth to the concept of Ambedkarite research with Dr Tej Singh, has continued to carry it forward in his stay. His present stories prove it passionately. Dr.R.S. Chandel
