Prof. Archana Dassi, MSW, PhD, Post- Doctoral UGC Research Awardee is teaching in the Department of Social Work, Jamia Millia Islamia and presently she is Head of the Department. She has expertise in teaching methods of social work especially case work and group work. She has authored two books and written numerous articles in national and international research journals on the issues related to women, children and differently abled. She has been on the expert committee of Govt of India for framing the Bill on the Rights of Transgender 2016. She is a consultant resource person and expert to NICFS, NISD, NIPCCD, CARA, MSJE and national level NGOs working in the field of women and children. Prof Archana Dassi has extensive research experience in the areas of Gender based violence, Children and Adolescents, HIV/AIDS, differently abled and transgender rights.

About The Book

The Book Active Ageing in New Millenniumis based on the life of elderly Women living in socially and economically disadvantaged urban communities in a metropolitan city. The book highlights the social, economic and health related issues and challenges faced by elderly women living in these communities and the coping strategies utilized by them to overcome these problems so as to remain active and productive in their golden years. The book will be useful to researchers, Academicians, civil society organizations and policy makers in designing multisectoral active ageing policies and programmes to help the elderly population live with respect and dignity.
