Dr. Rachna Kumari Prasad is Assistant Professor in Mata Sundri College, Delhi University in the Department of Political Science. She has done her Ph.D. from Delhi University, Department of Political Science on the topic Forest Land Rights of the Tribals in Jharkhand. She has cleared UGC-JRF. Her area of specialization is Human Rights, Development, Social Movements, Multiculturalism and Environment. She has more than ten years of teaching experience in different colleges of Delhi University. She has taught various papers in Honours and Programme courses. Her publications include Dalit and Tribal Rights (2013), and 'Right to Forest Land: Who Benefits?' (Mainstream, 2013). She has also presented papers on many National Seminars and Symposium and has also published research papers in Peer Reviewed/UGC Listed Journals. Her recent published work is on Implementation of SC/ST Atrocities Act, 1989, published in edited book 'Human Rights and Responsibility', Introduction to political theory, Rajnitik Sidhant Ek parichay.

About The Book

This book is written to help the students understand law as a source of rights, and as a progressively widening sphere of justice, welfare, and dignity. This relationship between laws and rights will be studied through specific values which have come to be seen as integral for a democratic society viz., equality and non-discrimination, empowerment, redistribution and recognition of traditional rights etc. Laws and rights also help students to connect with one's dues and entitlements in a democratic framework. This book is primarily written keeping in mind the current syllabus of Skill Based Ability Enhancement Course i.e., Your Laws and Your Rights paper. This book is helpful for other students as well who are preparing for law, UPSC, state services and other competitive exams.
