Dr. Janmejoy Khuntia, Ph.D. is currently teaching as an Associate Professor in Economics in School of Open Learning, Campus of Open Learning, University of Delhi which was formerly known as School of Correspondence Courses and Continuing Education, best known as India's first Institution in Distance Education at University level. He did his B.A (Hons) and M.A in Economics from Utkal University, Bhubaneswar, Odisha, M. Phil (Economics) from Delhi School of Economics, University of Delhi and Ph. D (Economics) from M.D.U, Rohtak. Dr. Khuntia has nearly 30 years of teaching experience at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level. He has been a Member of Academic Council of University of Delhi. Dr. Sarabjeet Kaur, Ph.D. is presently working in Zakir Husain Delhi College (Eve), Delhi University. She did B.Sc (Hons) and M.Sc (Hons) in Economics from Punjab School of Economics, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. She did her Phd from Punjab School of Economics, Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar. Her area of research is Econometrics and Monetary Economics. She has more than 13 years of teaching experience. She has attended various national and international conferences. She has also published various articles in national and international journals.

About The Book

The present book is an attempt made by young authors and senior faculty members spread over different parts of India to come together to analyse the severe impact of the deadly virus COVID19 not only on life and human health but also on the various economic activities taking place in the country. The virus originated in China but engulfed the entire population and threatened the very existence of human life in various parts of the world. In the absence of a vaccine and immediate cure to save lives, governments of different countries had no other option except to close their economies by forcing people to stay indoors as the best way to stay safe. But the repercussions were serious as stoppage of economic activities led to loss of jobs, drain on savings, breaks in supply chain etc. Most of the sectors of the economy suffered which the authors have tried to focus and analyse here.
