Dr. Ranjit Singh (M.Sc.,Ph.D.) is presently working as an Associate Professor and Head in the Department of Botany, D.S.N. (P.G.) College, Unnao (U.P.) affiliated to C.S.J.M. University, Kanpur. Dr. Singh has 23 years research experience and more than 20 years teaching experience of Botany at Graduate and Post Graduate levels. He has authored a number of books for University students and published 30 research papers/articles in the journals of National and International repute. He has been awarded FISAB and GESA Fellowship, Innovative Faculty Award, Paryavaran Ratna Puraskar and Eminent Botanist Award in teaching and scientific fields by different societies and associations for his contribution in the field of environmental conservation. Recently The American University, USA conferred on him an honorary degree D.Sc. (Honoris causa) for his seminal contribution to the field of science.

About The Book

This textbook, “Flowering Plants Identification & Aesthetic Characteristics,” covers identification techniques, plant morphology, taxonomy, and the aesthetic qualities of flowering plants, focusing on their beauty and role in landscapes and beyond. The text brings out various approaches of plant taxonomy and classification, major patterns of diversity among plants, and the characters and types of data used to classify plants. It also delves into the aesthetic aspects of plants, including their forms, colours, and textures. This textbook has been designed to meet the needs of B.Sc. Third Semester students of Botany as per Common Minimum Syllabus prescribed for all Uttar Pradesh State Universities and Colleges under the recommended National Education Policy 2020. The book accustoms to the students with different approaches to plant taxonomy and classification of Angiosperms. It also covers diverse taxonomic resources, reference materials, herbarium collections and publications.
