Jacob Amedie is a distinguished literary historian, theorist, and educator whose life's work centers on demystifying the classical and modern canons of world literature. A graduate of leading research institutions, Amedie has spent over two decades in academia, mapping the historical shifts, socio-political movements, and linguistic transformations that have shaped written expression. In A Background to the Study of English Literature, Amedie delivers his most definitive guide yet. He provides readers with the vital historical context, philosophical frameworks, and critical tools necessary to truly understand the world's greatest texts. He currently divides his time between university lecturing, international research fellowships, and his private library in London.
