About The Book

Green Organizations Promoting Change with I-O Psychology is a conceptual exploration of how modern workplaces can integrate environmental responsibility with principles of Industrial and Organizational (I-O) Psychology. The book focuses on the growing importance of sustainability in organizational settings and explains how psychological theories related to employee behavior, motivation, leadership, and organizational culture can be applied to support green initiatives. It highlights that environmental change in organizations is not only a technical or policy-driven process but also a deeply human and behavioral one. The book discusses how employees’ attitudes, perceptions, and motivations influence environmentally responsible actions at work. It explains that when organizations create supportive systems, employees are more likely to adopt sustainable practices such as reducing waste, conserving energy, and participating in eco-friendly programs. The role of leadership is also emphasized, showing how leaders can shape environmental values through vision, communication, and role modeling. Transformational leadership, in particular, is presented as a powerful approach for encouraging long-term green behavior in organizations. The book connects I-O psychology research with real-world applications, showing how data-driven approaches can help measure the effectiveness of sustainability programs. It also explores the relationship between job satisfaction, engagement, and participation in green initiatives, suggesting that employees who feel valued and involved are more likely to support environmental goals.
